When DJI teamed up with FLIR in 2015, both the drone and thermography communities had good reason to be excited. The development of the Zenmuse XT camera shortly followed and the possibilities of aerial thermography became evident to a wide range of industries. What would have taken days or even weeks to complete using the traditional handheld thermal cameras, could now be completed in a matter of hours by using the combination of DJI manufactured drones and FLIR designed thermal cameras.
This year, the two companies have combined again to create the Zenmuse XT2 thermal camera and we’ve got our hands on one at Magnifly. The Zenmuse XT2 is a robust thermal imaging camera that analyses radiometric data and enables our team at Magnifly to assist our clients in making data-driven decisions quickly and accurately.
One of our favourite features is the combination of the advanced FLIR radiometric thermal camera with a 4K visual camera which allows our pilots to view thermal and visual data in real time while conducting flights. These dual sensors create visuals that are particularly useful during thermal surveying and inspection projects where our clients need to identify issues using radiometric visuals but also need a clear real-time visual of the issue, which the 4K camera provides in stunning quality.
